This week I've decided to spotlight a child who never fails to light up the room. Her name is Rocio LaGuerre and she is a fourth grader at the Joe Hartman School. Her birthday is August 22 and she just turned 9! Rocio always has a smile on her face and spreads kindness wherever she goes. For example, she gathered some of her friends from her class and they choreographed a dance to "No hay lugar mas alto", a Christian song, to perform for me in the library. I have to say I was pretty close to tears. It was so beautiful and moving; there are just no words to describe what that truly felt like. Her kindness and motivation to learn made me want to do a little interview with her so that you could learn about one of the amazing kids I get to teach :) Below are the questions, which she made up, and her responses.
Favorite food: rice&beans with meat
Favorite Color: pink
What do you want to study? cooking, sewing (I'm assuming she meant to become a seamstress/designer?), education, and accounting
What do you like to do in your free time? Play with friends, watch tv and make bonfires. (A really popular telenovela is Moises)
What's your favorite thing to wear? A pretty dress or a skirt with a nice blouse
If you could have a superpower what would it be? I would fly so that I could travel and visit many places.
Whenever we have English class she makes sure the other students are being respectful and listening and she is one of the most attentive students in class. Her motivation to learn and her curiosity make teaching her an absolute pleasure :)
